BENJAMIN HARRISON BRIDGE TO BE CLOSED OVERNIGHT MONDAY

Daily alternating lane closures continue Monday-Saturday

Benjamin Harrison Bridge/Route 156 (Prince George/Charles City) – As part of a construction project, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the Benjamin Harrison Bridge over the James River overnight Monday, October 10, to hoist new elevators for the elevator replacement project. Daily alternating lane closures will continue Monday, Oct. 10 through Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Monday, October 10

Jordan Point Rd./Rt. 156 (Charles City/Prince George) – From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, there will be a single alternating lane closed on the Benjamin Harrison Bridge for an elevator replacement project. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays.

Jordan Point Rd./Rt. 156 (Charles City/Prince George) – From 8 p.m. Monday-6 a.m. Tuesday, the Benjamin Harrison Bridge will be closed as part of the project. Drivers should use the posted detour:

Take Jordan Point Road (Route 106/156) south to Route 10 west. Take Interstate 295 north to Route 5 (Exit 22A) back to Jordan Point Road (Route 106/156).

Through travelers can use Interstates 295 and 64 or the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry as alternate routes to the Hampton Roads area.

Tuesday, October 11

Jordan Point Rd./Rt. 156 (Charles City/Prince George) – From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, there will be a single alternating lane closed on the Benjamin Harrison Bridge for an elevator replacement project. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays.

Wednesday, October 12

Jordan Point Rd./Rt. 156 (Charles City/Prince George) – From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, there will be a single alternating lane closed on the Benjamin Harrison Bridge for an elevator replacement project. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays.

Thursday, October 13

Jordan Point Rd./Rt. 156 (Charles City/Prince George) – From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, there will be a single alternating lane closed on the Benjamin Harrison Bridge for an elevator replacement project. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays.

Friday, October 14

Jordan Point Rd./Rt. 156 (Charles City/Prince George) – From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, there will be a single alternating lane closed on the Benjamin Harrison Bridge for an elevator replacement project. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays.

Saturday, October 15

Jordan Point Rd./Rt. 156 (Charles City/Prince George) – From 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, there will be a single alternating lane closed on the Benjamin Harrison Bridge for an elevator replacement project. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays.
