PRINCE GEORGE – A traffic alert for drivers who use Prince George Drive as part of their regular commute as the Virginia Department of Transportation has closed the road for the next few days for construction work.

According to the agency, Prince George Drive between Laurel Spring Road and Pole Run Road will be closed starting Monday, April 10 through Wednesday, April 12, weather permitting, for a pipe installation project.

Drivers should follow the posted detour routes:
• Northbound Prince George Dr. (Rt. 156) – Take County Dr. (Rt. 460) west to Courthouse Rd. (Rt. 106) north back to Prince George Dr. (Rt. 156).
• Southbound Prince George Dr. (Rt. 156) – Take Courthouse Rd. (Rt. 106) south to County Dr. (Rt. 460) east back to Prince George Dr. (Rt. 156).

This project will not have an impact on school bus travel in the area as Prince George Schools are currently on Easter Break through the remainder of the week.

Anyone with questions about the work can call VDOT’s customer service center at 800-FOR-ROAD (800-367-7623).
