Pole Run Road Bridge Replacement Nearly Complete in Prince George
Drivers should continue to use the posted detour through early May
A large crane sets pre-cast bridge supports over Wards Creek as part of emergency replacement
PRINCE GEORGE – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are in the final stages of the emergency replacement of the Pole Run Road (Route 616) bridge over Wards Creek in Prince George County. Heavy rain caused a localized washout and substantial damage to the south end of the bridge on June 3, 2016. Once the water receded, inspectors made an immediate assessment and determined that a full replacement was necessary for drivers’ safety.
Weather permitting; the road will remain closed to through traffic between James River Drive (Route 10) and Lone Oak Mill Road (Route 658) through early May.
Drivers should continue to use the posted detour routes:
- Eastbound Pole Run Rd. (Rt. 616) – Take Hines Rd. (Rt. 625) north to James River Dr. (Rt. 10) east back to Pole Run Rd. (Rt. 616).
- Westbound Pole Run Rd. (Rt. 616) – Take James River Dr. (Rt. 10) west to Hines Rd. (Rt. 625) south back to Pole Run Rd. (Rt. 616).
