Country music duo headlines July 4 entertainment lineup at Fort Lee

FORT LEE, Va. – Breakout music industry recording artists Maddie & Tae will be the featured performers for this year’s Fourth at the Fort celebration at Williams Stadium here. The entertainment lineup also includes country singer Jackie Lee and a performance by Fort Lee’s 392nd Army Band. The evening concludes with a fireworks display.

Admission to the annual event is free and open to the public. Fourth at the Fort begins at 5 p.m. and all installation access gates will open from 2-8 p.m. Individuals 18 years of age or older must present a valid state- or government-issued identification card, with photo, to access the installation. Security personnel will scan all state licenses.

Early afternoon activities include the Kidzone Play Area with a bounce house, rock climbing walls, sports activities, a large inflatable “aircraft carrier” slide and more. A varied number of tickets are required the Kidzone attractions. Tickets may be purchased for $1 each or $20 for an unlimited-access pass.
Fourth at the Fort also features a food court area where guests can purchase barbeque sandwiches, pizza, grilled burgers and hot dogs, funnel cakes, regular and adult beverages, ice cream and more.

Entertainment begins at 5 p.m. with the featured performance by Maddie & Tae starting at approximately 8 p.m. Country music fans may be familiar with these young ladies from Texas and Oklahoma, respectively. Their debut album “Start Here” includes the track “Girl in a County Song,” which achieved the top spot on the Billboard Country Singles chart 23 weeks after its release in 2016. The accompanying video on YouTube attracted 38 million viewers and was named the Country Music Association’s video of the year. The duo’s singing career also has been catapulted by appearances on daytime and nighttime talk shows.

For the best seating, early arrival to the Fourth at the Fort is recommended. Patrons are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to make themselves comfortable on the stadium field or use the bleacher seats that surround the facility.

Those planning to participate are reminded that personal pyrotechnics, tailgating, coolers, smoking and pets are not permitted in or around the event area. Only clear or mesh bags can be carried into the stadium, and they are subject to search by security personnel.
